A meeting with the regional director of IFEAC was held at the Valikhanovna Institute of History and Ethnology


On July 18, 2022, a meeting with Adrian Fov, Regional Director of the French Institute for Central Asian Studies, whose office has been located in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) since 2010, took place at the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology.

The meeting was held at the initiative of the director of our Institute Z.E. Kabuldinov, who returned from a business trip to the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Directors of Sh. Tleubaev and A. Abdulina, leading ethnologist N. Alimbai, scientists T. Ryskulov and E. Kochiev. In accordance with the memorandum of cooperation between our research institutes, plans have been outlined to carry out topical joint research on the problem of Kazakh refugees from the famine of the 1920s and 1930s to the neighboring republic, to study the tangible and intangible heritage of Kazakhs and Kyrgyz, to broadcast ideas, historical memory, traditions, etc., the impact of information technology on modern society. The French Institute provides our scientists with the opportunity to publish their articles in the scientific journal “Cahiers d’Asie centrale” and on the website of their institute, an internship in France under the postdoctoral program. There are plans to implement a program for the publication of monographs on the history and ethnography of the peoples of Central Asia.
