On April 12, 2024, the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a round table dedicated to the Day of Science on the topic “Young scientists and current problems and new directions of national historical science”.

The round table was attended by young scientists of the Institute, Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, and the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Margulan. The work of the round table was opened with an introductory speech by Shamek Bayanovich Tleubaev, Deputy Director General for Science of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov, Candidate of Historical Sciences.

The round table included discussions on new directions and topical issues in the field of history, archeology, and ethnology. In particular, the scientific secretary of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov, PhD, Associate Professor – Kurmanalina Nurgul Nursultanovna made a presentation on the topic “The role of oral history in the study of national identity.” In her report, she stressed the importance of the role of oral history in the study of national identity. The next speaker is the Head of the Zooarchaeology Laboratory at the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Margulana – Shagirbayev Mambet Saparbekovich in his report “Archaeozoological research: opportunities, current state and prospects” focused on the archesoological analysis of materials discovered during archaeological research, and the head of the Laboratory of Physical Anthropology of this institute, researcher Zhanuzak Ramazan, in a report on “Anthropological research in Kazakhstan”, told what anthropology is, the main problems, etc. He is also a researcher at the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov – Moryakova Malika Temirkhanovna in her report “Peculiarities of the nomadic way of life (according to the works of researchers)” told about the main material cultures of nomadic peoples and their features. Researcher “Problems of Kazakh monument studies” of the Department of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov – Ashim Baghlan Abdrakhmanovich in the report “On the new scientific and scientific-practical direction of ethnological science “Kazakh (ethnographic) monument studies” spoke about the important role and relevance for modern Kazakhstan of the scientific-practical direction of monument studies, also a researcher at the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov – Konkabayeva Arailym Nurbolatovna in her report “Oral history as a tool for studying historical memory” spoke about the value of memories stored in the memory of the people, about methods of their use in historical research, junior researcher at the Department of Ancient and Medieval History of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries – Sauyrkan Eldos in her report “Conditions and some problems of the formation of young people scientists in modernity” voiced proposals on the role of young scientists in science and the promotion of works published at our institute on social networks.
