TRIP FROM ALATAU TO NAGORNO-KARABAKH


On April 19-20, 2024, the Director General of the Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology, Professor Z.E. Kabuldinov and Deputy Director, Candidate of Historical Sciences Zhenis Zhomart, took part in the international conference “Caucasian Albania: Ethnoarchaeology, Written Sources and Historical Monuments”, organized by the Institute of History and Ethnology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On April 19, the conference participants and foreign guests visited Nagorno-Karabakh, where they got acquainted with historical monuments, sights and recent changes.

On April 20, scientists from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Poland, Lithuania, Italy, France, and South Korea made presentations on the historical heritage of Caucasian Albania at the conference.

Speaking at the plenary session, Professor Z.E. Kabuldinov focused on the Azerbaijani-Kazakh scientific ties and gave specific proposals on the topic of joint projects that will be implemented in the future. Scientists of the Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology presented books and collections published by the Institute and donated them to the organizers.

Zhenis Zhomart, Ph.D. in History, made a report “The traditional worldview of the Turks and tent temples in Caucasian Albania”, in which he spoke about the influence of the worldview of the Turkic nomads on the historical monuments of the Caucasus.

In general, the conference became an example of successful and mutually beneficial scientific cooperation.
