Participation in the International Scientific Conference «THE KENGIR UPRISING: CAUSES, RESISTANCE, CONSEQUENCES, AND MEMORY»


On October 3-4, 2024, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, General Director of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Kabuldinov Z.E. made a report at the International Scientific Conference “KENGIR UPRISING: CAUSES, CONFRONTATION, CONSEQUENCES AND MEMORY” in Vilnius (Lithuania). The conference was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the uprising of political prisoners in the Kengir camp. The event was held in the UNESCO building and was organized by the Center for Genocide and Resistance Studies and the Institute of History with the support of the Government of Lithuania. The conference was also attended by leading researchers Dyusenova N.K. and Kalybekova M.Ch. The presentations were highly appreciated and recommended for publication in rating journals, including the SCOPUS database. After the conference, a meeting of the Kazakh-Lithuanian Historical Commission was held, where a decision was made to jointly search for the remains of soldiers from Kazakhstan who died in nazi concentration camps and battles on the territory of Lithuania. The conference participants also met with Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Victoria Chmilite-Nielsen.
