The chief researcher of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Sadvokassova Z.T. and a leading researcher of the Institute, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Mukanova G.K. from September 22 to October 5, 2024, carried out a scientific trip to the city of St. Petersburg of the Russian Federation within the framework of the grant research project “County administrations of the steppe regions of Kazakhstan in the implementation of the colonial policy of autocracy (the second half of the XIX – early XX century”.
The purpose of the trip is to study newly identified thematic sources and materials in the Russian State Historical Archive and the National Library of St. Petersburg, analyze and systematize new data from modern methodological positions.
According to the Calendar Plan of the Project, scientific research was carried out in the Russian State Historical Archive (RGIA), three branches of the Russian National Library. As a result, rare archival documents have been identified that allow reconstructing the stages of colonization and evolution of the structure of county government in the steppe regions of Kazakhstan in the second half of the XIX – early XX centuries. Copies of the originals of valuable archival materials were issued, photocopies and scans were made from the materials of published monographs, collections of archival documents and the imperial periodical press.
As part of the business trip, organizational work was carried out within the framework of strengthening scientific ties and partnerships with research institutions – Kazakhstani scientific publications were presented as a gift to the National Library of Science.
