Meeting with interviewers in the Karasai district in the “Collection of interview materials “The Famine of 1931-1933: memoirs of witnesses and descendants of the famine in the Almaty region”


On April 26, 2025, a meeting was held with interviewers in the Karasai district in the “Collection of interview materials “The Famine of 1931-1933: memoirs of witnesses and descendants of the famine in the Almaty region.” The meeting was held in the reading room of the Karasai Regional Library in Kaskelen, Almaty region. The meeting opened with a foreword by Kanat Tursynovich Takebaev, chairman of the Kaskelen city veteran organization. Shuasheva Tursinbala Nurseitovna, a local historian of the Karasai district, told about the history of the Karasai district in 1931-1933.

During the meeting, the grandparents were presented with letters of thanks from the General Director of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch.Valikhanov, doctor of history, professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Kabyldinov Z.E. and “Collection of interview materials “The Famine of 1931-1933: memoirs of witnesses and descendants of the famine in the Almaty region”. Elena Dadan, a resident of the village of Zhandosov, made a congratulatory speech. She told the story of the village of Zhandosov in 1931-1933. The interviewers expressed their gratitude to the management and staff of the Institute.

In addition, a memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed between the Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology and the Karasai Regional Library. U.K. Suteeva, Director of the Karasai Regional Library, thanked the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov for the books published by the Institute as part of the projects and wished fruitful cooperation.
