On May 6, 2025, an international scientific-practical conference titled “Kazakhstan’s Contribution to Victory (Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Soviet Peoples’ Victory in the Great Patriotic War)” was held in Almaty and Astana in a hybrid format.

The event was jointly organized by the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology, the Department of Kazakhstan History at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The conference was part of the BR20280975 fundamental research project, “Historical Traditions of Kazakh Statehood and Issues of Preserving National Identity.”
The conference gathered prominent historians, university faculty, doctoral and master’s students. Discussions focused on major topics of World War II and the Great Patriotic War, with a special focus on the role of Kazakhstani soldiers, prisoners of war, and the importance of preserving historical memory and fostering international scholarly cooperation.

The event played a vital role in promoting patriotism among youth, honoring the memory of veterans, and safeguarding the historical legacy. An electronic collection of conference materials will be published as a result.
