Almaty, May 29, 2025 – As part of the official visit of the Polish Academy of Sciences delegation to Almaty, which took place from May 28 to May 29, 2025, a series of meetings were held with Kazakhstani scientific institutions. The Polish side showed particular interest in the Sh.Sh. Ualikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology.
The delegation of the Polish Academy of Sciences was led by its President, Professor Marek Konarzewski. The delegation also included: Professor Arkadiusz Nowak (Director of the PAN Botanical Garden in Powsin), Professor Jaroslaw Stolarski (Director of the PAN Institute of Paleobiology), Professor Anna Wysocka (Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the PAN Institute of Geological Sciences), Dr. Katarzyna Kość-Ryżko (PAN Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology), and Dr. Anna Plater-Zyberk (Director of the PAN International Relations Office).
During the meetings, discussions focused on mutually beneficial cooperation in the study of the historical and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people, ethnography, national minorities, the history of the Polish diaspora relocated to Kazakhstan, as well as opportunities for accessing archival and museum data. The purpose of the visit was to exchange views on mutually beneficial scientific cooperation.
The Polish side expressed interest in organizing meetings with the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a number of other Kazakhstani research institutes.
