On July 1, 2025, a formal meeting was held at the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology with a delegation of scholars from the Academy of Social Sciences of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), People’s Republic of China

The meeting was opened by Mr. Shamek Tileubaev, Deputy General Director for Scientific Affairs, who presented an overview of the Institute’s scientific work and priorities. The Chinese delegation was headed by Dr. Su Lei, Vice-President of the Academy of Social Sciences of XUAR. The delegation also included officials and researchers from departments of science, foreign affairs, and history: Aili Wufuer, Ma Yuan, Li Yuanbin, Wang Wei, and Zhao Yajie.

The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen academic cooperation and develop joint research projects between institutions of the two countries. Mr. Zhenis Zhomart Zhenisuly, Deputy Director for International Relations, shared his vision for collaborative initiatives and partnerships.

Representatives from other institutes under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan also participated. Dr. Asemgul Daurenkyzy Kasenova, Deputy Director for Science of the A.Kh. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, presented ongoing archaeological projects. Dr. Ernur Kuatuly Belguzha, Academic Secretary of the R.B. Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies, highlighted research in the field of Chinese studies and suggested new areas for cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed their commitment to continue collaboration and implement joint scientific initiatives.
