On July 4, 2025, a formal meeting was held at the Chokan Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology with scholars from the Academy of Social Sciences of the People’s Republic of China.
The meeting was opened by the Director General of the Institute, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Ziyabek Yermukhanuly Kabuldinov. In his welcoming speech, he emphasized the importance of good-neighborly relations between Kazakhstan and China, as well as the vital role of academic cooperation in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Chinese delegation was led by Xu Changzhi, Deputy Secretary of the China–Russia Strategic Cooperation Center under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The delegation also included Su Chang, Deputy Director of the Strategic Research Division, and other researchers.
The primary aim of the meeting was to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of science and explore effective ways to implement joint projects between research institutions of the two countries.
The participants discussed a wide range of topics in the humanities, including history, ethnology, geopolitical developments, and international relations. The Chinese guests became acquainted with the Institute’s library, archival collections, and expeditionary research projects. Both sides expressed interest in developing joint research initiatives and proposed organizing collaborative academic events in the future.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties confirmed their commitment to furthering scientific cooperation and implementing joint research efforts.
