From June 30 to July 12, 2025, the Institute’s leading research fellow and head of the “Historical Demography” Department, Mr. Timur Akimkhanuly Apendiyev, made a business trips to the Federal Republic of Germany as part of the calendar plan of the grant project titled “Contemporary Trends in the Demographic Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1991–2021).”

During the visit, research was conducted at the city libraries of Frankfurt and Nuremberg, as well as at the libraries of Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, resulting in the collection of approximately 958 pages of documents in electronic format. Based on these materials, one research article is expected to be published.
As part of the trip, Mr. Apendiyev held meetings with scholars from the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of Friedrich-Alexander University, specializing in the history of Eastern Europe, as well as with researchers from the Bavarian Cultural Center. The meetings took the form of roundtable discussions, where current research topics, future plans of the project, and a brief overview of the Institute’s history were presented.
In addition, on behalf of the Institute’s General Director, official invitations were delivered to attend the upcoming 80th anniversary celebration of the Institute, scheduled for September. At the end of the meetings, an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum on academic cooperation between the respective institutions in the near future. This collaboration is expected to become a valuable bridge between Kazakhstani and German historians.
