Dear Colleagues,

On October 17, 2025, the Project Office of the State Commission and the Astana branch of the Ch. Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology of the Committee of Science, Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will hold an  republican Scientific-Practical Conference on the theme: “The Revolutionary Doctrine of the ‘Small October in Kazakhstan’: Political Goals and Methods of Implementation”.

The conference is held within the framework of the Targeted Funding Program IRN BR24993057 “Fundamental study of the main basic categories and subcategories of victims of political repressions in Kazakhstan and the processes of their full rehabilitation.”

The aim of the Conference is, based on the analysis and fundamental research of acts of the party-Soviet bodies of the RSFSR and USSR, their punitive structures, as well as the materials of plenums, conferences, meetings, and other official acts and documents of the Kazkraikom, KazCIC-SNK of the KASSR, speeches of F. Goloshchekin and other leaders of Kazakhstan, materials of special commissions and plenipotentiaries, and documents of regional and punitive bodies—to determine the political goals, preparation plans, and propagandist and ideological support of each action; to definitively establish the basic categories/subcategories of victims, the features of mass repressions, and the methods of direct implementation of each political campaign carried out within the revolutionary doctrine of the “Small October in Kazakhstan.”

It is also necessary to discuss the ways and legal mechanisms for the full legal and political rehabilitation of victims and those affected by each campaign of the “Small October in Kazakhstan.”

Conference Directions:

  1. Fundamental study of revolutionary-violent actions to establish the main categories/subcategories of victims of repression in the socio-economic sphere within the anti-people policy of the “Small October in Kazakhstan”: goals, mechanisms of implementation.
  2. Fundamental study of revolutionary-violent actions to establish the main categories/subcategories of victims of repression in the political-legal sphere within the anti-people policy of the “Small October in Kazakhstan”: goals, mechanisms of implementation.
  3. Fundamental study of revolutionary-violent actions to establish the main categories/subcategories of victims of repression in the ideological, cultural, scientific, and spiritual spheres within the anti-people policy of the “Small October in Kazakhstan”: goals, mechanisms of implementation.

Date: October 17, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Format: offline and online (via Zoom).
Working languages: Kazakh and Russian.

Following the results of the conference, a collection of materials will be published. No publication fee will be charged.

Requirements for Article Submission:

  • Articles must be submitted electronically in MS Office Word 2007 format, Times New Roman font, size 14, single spacing, 1 cm paragraph indent, 2 cm margins, text justified. Tables and photos are welcome.
  • The article must strictly comply with the following scientific standards:
    • Volume – no less than 0.5 printed sheet (5–7 computer pages);
    • Title of the article in capital letters, centered;
    • One line below – initials and surname of the author, e-mail, workplace, position, academic degree;
    • Short abstract in the language of the article;
    • Keywords;
    • One line below – main text of the article;
    • List of references formatted according to GOST 7.1-2003;
    • Footnotes and references numbered as cited in square brackets (example: [1, p. 28]);
    • The text must be carefully proofread and edited by the author.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to reject materials that do not correspond to the topic or requirements.
