We cordially invite you to participate in the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference entitled: “The Evolution of Social Policy in Kazakhstan: Historical Transformations, the Legacy of the Soviet Period, and Post-Soviet Reforms (1920s–1980s)”

The conference is devoted to the study of the historical evolution of social policy in Kazakhstan, the analysis of state mechanisms for regulating the social sphere during the Soviet period, and the assessment of the impact of the Soviet legacy on contemporary social reforms and societal development.
The conference will focus on the transformation of social infrastructure, healthcare, education, demographic processes, housing policy, social stratification, changes in everyday life, and the formation of Soviet and national identities in Kazakhstan.
Researchers, university faculty members, archivists, early-career scholars, doctoral candidates, and master’s students specializing in the history of the twentieth century are invited to participate.
Conference Topics
- Theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of Soviet social policy;
- Social policy: theories, research methods, and practices;
- Stages in the implementation of social policy in Kazakhstan during the twentieth century: historical challenges, ideology, and implementation;
- Social policy and everyday life in Soviet Kazakhstan;
- Education and cultural policy as mechanisms for shaping Soviet identity;
- Gender dimensions of social policy;
- Soviet social policy and social inequality;
- Labor, employment, and social protection in historical perspective.
Conference proceedings will be published in an edited volume. Papers will be published in the authors’ original versions.
Working languages: Kazakh, Russian, and English.

Submission Requirements
To participate in the conference, authors should submit:
- A completed participant registration form;
- A paper/article prepared in accordance with the conference guidelines.
Paper Formatting Requirements
- Maximum length: 10–12 pages;
- Font: Times New Roman, 14 pt;
- Line spacing: single;
- Text alignment: justified;
- Margins: 2 cm on all sides.
In-text references should follow the author–date format in square brackets, indicating the author’s surname, year of publication, and page number.
Example:
(Kozybayev 2001: 59).
Archival references should be cited in full.

A complete list of references should be provided at the end of the paper in alphabetical order.
Submitted papers must be original and must not have been previously published.
