From August 23 to 30, 2026, the International 5-th Summer School for Young Historians was held in the Republic of Uzbekistan
The international academic event brought together young historians from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan. Young researchers from the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology — E. Kurkeyev, M. Kairat, and Zh. Bakirova — took part in the event.
The main purpose of the Summer School was to promote the exchange of academic experience among young historians, strengthen professional ties between researchers, and provide a platform for the joint discussion of various aspects of our shared history.
The programme included academic presentations, discussions, and educational meetings, during which participants introduced their areas of research. The young scholars exchanged views on new approaches to historical research, methods of working with historical sources, and the study of shared historical and cultural heritage.
Particular attention was given to developing academic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries, strengthening interaction among young researchers, and identifying areas for future joint research projects.
International summer schools of this kind serve not only as platforms for young scholars to exchange knowledge and experience but also as important environments for establishing new academic contacts and building partnerships. Bringing together young researchers from different countries helps strengthen cooperation in historical studies across Central Asia and creates opportunities for the joint exploration of shared academic issues.
