  • Galiya Aitzhanovna Shotanova – Acting head of the department since 2020, candidate of historical sciences, leading researcher. Research interests: the study of the transformation of the socio-political structure of pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan, the problem of colonization; the study of the activities of scientific societies and institutions of Russia during the XIX – beginning. XX centuries.

  • Sadvokasova Zakish Tulekhanovna – doctor of historical sciences, professor, chief researcher. The field of scientific interests is connected with the study of colonial policy in the spiritual life of the Kazakh people.

  • Abdirov Murat Zhetkergenovich – doctor of historical sciences, professor, chief researcher.The main range of scientific interests is connected with the history of modern Kazakhstan (XVIII – early XX centuries), the study of military Cossack colonization of the region, the conquest of Kazakhstan and Central Asia by tsarist Russia, the role of Russian Cossack troops in this process – Ural, Orenburg, Siberian and Semirechensk. For the first time in Russian historical science, the history of the Tsarist Cossack troops and the military-Cossack colonization of the region was singled out as an independent scientific problem, on this topic he published several individual and collective monographs.

  • Toraigyrov Erzhan Muratovich – candidate of historical sciences, leading researcher. The range of scientific interests is the history of the Irtysh region.

  • Satenova Maral Rataevna – master of humanities, senior researcher. Research activities are carried out on the following issues:
    • – The accession of the Kazakhs of the Senior Zhuz to the Russian Empire;
    • – Military and administrative activities of G.A. Kolpakovsky;
    • – National liberation movements in Southern and Southeastern Kazakhstan in the XIX century;
    • – Administrative-legal and socio-political transformations in the steppe regions and the Semirechensk region;
    • – Methodological and theoretical aspects of historical research.

  • Rashid Yeshenovich Orazov – master of humanities, senior researcher. The main scientific direction is the study of the history of Kazakhstan during the new time period. The historical moments of the colonization of Kazakhstan by the Russian Empire in the nineteenth century, the issues of the national liberation uprising led by Syzdyk Kenesarin are studied in more detail.

  • Zhetpisbai Nurzhan Ihsanovich – PhD-doctor, senior researcher. Mainly deals with the problems of the history of the new time of Kazakhstan. The main objects of research are the socio-political history of Western Kazakhstan of the XVIII – early XX centuries, the history of the Khobdin-Ilek region, liberation uprisings that took place in this region, historical figures, pedigrees of local clans, local history.

  • Oralova Aknur Amangeldievna– researcher, master’s degree holder. Historian-archivist. The main research areas: The history of Kazakhstan in Soviet times, source studies, theory and methodology of documentation, problems of archival affairs.
