Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh. Sh. Ualikhanov

The Department of the History of Kazakhstan of modern times is one of the structural divisions of the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of history and ethnology.

The general subject of research conducted in the department covers the period of study of the XVIII – early XX centuries. The main tasks of the department:

– development of comprehensive research on topical issues of the history of Kazakhstan in the period of modern times;

– research of socio-political processes on the territory of Kazakhstan in the pre-revolutionary period;

– study and evaluation of the role and significance of national liberation movements, uprisings and wars;

– implementation of complex, fundamental and applied projects;

– publication of generalizing collective works, monographs, collections of documents, etc.;

– preparation of the personnel reserve.
