The Department of Historiography, Source Studies and Modern Methodology is the leading department of the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology. The main strategic directions of the department’s academic research:

– Priority directions of Russian historiography along with complex theoretical and methodological problems of historical science;

– historical memory of nomadic peoples, traditional oral history;

– source studies and historical informatics;

– historical consciousness in modern society.

The main direction of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies and modern methodology and the implementation of research projects was carried out with the involvement of qualified historians, source specialists.
