Biography

Ualtayeva Altyn Slyamkaydarovna was born in the East Kazakhstan region, graduated from the Ust-Kamenogorsk Pedagogical Institute, postgraduate studies at the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. She passed an internship at the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Robert Gordon University (Scotland).

Education:

1980-1986 – studied at the full-time department of the history faculty at the Ust-Kamenogorsk Pedagogical Institute.

In 1999-2001 – graduate school of the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. 

2004-2006 passed an internship at the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Robert Gordon University. A.S. Ualtayeva took part in the implementation of about 20 Kazakhstani and foreign projects, including UCA.

Career:

September 2008 – to the present – RSE on REM «Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology» SC MES RK, Leading Researcher.

February 2016 – to the present Head of the «Gylym Ordasy» Center for the Training of Scientific Personnel. 

2004-2008 – Senior Lecturer of the D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State University.

1991-2004 – Lecturer at the Polytechnic College.

1986-1991 – high school history teacher.

Public and academic work:

Chairman of the «History» section at the N. Nazarbayev Education Fund and the Minor Academy of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Reviewer of textbooks and teaching aids.

Member of the Admissions Committee at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, 4 master’s and one PhD dissertations were defended under A.S. Ualtayeva’s supervision.

Participant and coordinator of about 20 research projects (2000–2022).

Awards:

2015 – «550 years of the Kazakh Khanate» medal.

2016 – Honored Worker of Science and Education (Russian Federation).

2016 – Order «Best Among Equals» (Russian Federation).

2017 – Holder of an academic scholarship of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan 2017-2018.

2018 – «Alash» medal for the 100th anniversary of «Alash». 

2019 – Medal for the 80th anniversary of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

2019 – Commendation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2021 – Medal for 25th Anniversary of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.

Research interests: historical demography, history and development of mono- and small towns, activities of ethno-cultural associations, and the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, etc.
