Introductory: Violent social experiments, violation of citizens’ rights, excesses in national policy, refusal to consider the peculiarities of life, customs of indigenous people, deportation to Kazakhstan of 1 million 207 thousand representatives of different nations, riots during the development of virgin lands, bureaucracy and corruption in power structures has caused social and interethnic conflicts. The careful concealment of information about these events by the Soviet authorities led to the fact that to date there is no comprehensive study on this issue in historiography. The experience of identifying and preventing hotbeds of social and interethnic tension is highly relevant for multinational Kazakhstan.

Objective of the project: The objective is to comprehensively study the history of social and ethnic conflicts that took place in Soviet Kazakhstan based on archival documents, determine the causes and prerequisites for their occurrence identify possible ways to prevent them in the future, learn lessons, draw up a holistic picture of these events.

Expected results: Within the framework of the project, it is planned to publish 2 (two) articles or reviews in a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed in the Social Science Citation Index, Arts and Humanities Citation Index and (or) the Russian Science Citation Index of the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in Scopus database at least 35 (thirty five); or 2 (two) articles or reviews in a peer-reviewed scientific journal included in the 1 (first) or 2 (second) quartile in the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 65 (sixty five); or 2 (two) articles and / or reviews in peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in the Arts and Humanities Citation Index of the Web of Science database. As part of the project, it is planned to publish 1 (one) monograph on the topic “Soviet Kazakhstan: historical lessons of social and ethnic conflicts (1920-1991)” (at least 20 pp.), As well as the publication of 2 (two) scientific articles in foreign peer-reviewed journal with a nonzero impact factor and / or 6 (six) articles in a domestic journal included in the list of recommended editions of the CCSES MOS RK.
