METHODOLOGICAL SEMINAR: “Some problematic issues of the history of Kazakhstan of the Soviet period (1917-1991)” of the new academic edition “History of Kazakhstan from ancient times to the present day”


On July 27, 2022, a methodological seminar was held at the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology on the topic “Some problematic issues of the history of Kazakhstan of the Soviet period (1917-1991)” of the new academic publication “History of Kazakhstan from ancient times to the present day”.

At the seminar, scientists discussed methodological approaches to some problematic issues that arose during the preparation of the 6th volume of the academic edition.

During the methodological seminar, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor E. A. Abil, who made a report “Kazakhstan in the period of changes in 1917”, focused on the main issues of this period. He also added that these materials are reflected in modern historical textbooks. In particular, he expressed his position on the topic of the February and October revolutions.

In addition, on the significance of the Alash Party and the Alashorda government, Ph.D., Professor E. K. Nurpeisov made a report on the topic “the Alash Party and the Alashorda government – an alternative policy and form of government to the Bolsheviks and Soviets.” The professor also noted important aspects that need to be taken into account when studying the image of a historical object taken on

Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor J. B. Abylkhozhin, who began the report with an analysis of historiographical contradictions in the coverage of the problem of industrialization of Kazakhstan, conducted a comprehensive analysis of historical materials and historical facts on the importance of correct presentation.

During the scientific discussion among scientists, the topics of the origin and consequences of the February and October revolutions were widely analyzed.

By the end of the seminar, the scientists came to the conclusion that historical textbooks should be written on the basis of materials and scientific works corresponding to real events, while it is advisable to use basic methodological approaches.
