THE INSTITUTE HOSTED A VISIT OF THE KALMYK DELEGATION HEADED BY ITS DIRECTOR OF THE KNC RAS V.V. KUKANOVA


On February 13, 2023, the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology organized a meeting with a scientific delegation (Elista, Republic of Kalmykia, Russia) headed by the Director of the Kalmyk Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (KNC RAS) Kukanova Victoria Vasilyevna.

During the meeting, the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov presented the books “Political repressions among Kazakhs on the territory of the republics of Central Asia in the 20-50s of the twentieth century” and “Kazakhs in Central Asia: History and Destiny (1920-1950”.

After the presentation, archival documents about Kalmyks deported to the Kazakh SSR in the 1940s and 1950s as special settlers identified in the state archives of our country were handed over.

At the moment, negotiations are expected between the editors-in-chief of two journals published at the Institute – “Otan Tarikhy” and “Edu history”, and the director of the KNC RAS V.V. Kukanova, on the introduction of journals into a single bibliographic and abstract database Scopus.

On February 17, 2023, the Institute will host an international scientific conference entitled “Kazakh-Kalmyk relations: History and modernity”. The information will be posted on the Institute’s website.
