Polish Ambassador to Kazakhstan Selim Hezbievich held a scientific seminar “The History of the Tatars of Poland and Lithuania”


On March 24, 2023, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Kazakhstan, Professor Selim Hezbievich, held a scientific seminar on the topic at the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology:”History of Polish and Lithuanian Tatars”, organized by the Department of Medieval History of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.

Scientists and young specialists of the Institute took part in the scientific seminar, chaired by the Deputy Director for Science Tleubaev Sh.B. The seminar provided valuable information about the cultural and political history of the European Tatars in the last stages of the existence of the Golden Horde. The speaker also shared interesting information about the tribal composition and ethno-cultural characteristics of the Tatars currently living in Poland and Lithuania, their contribution to European civilization and history.

Scientists and young specialists participating in the seminar asked interesting and important questions about the European Tatars, who became the heirs of the Golden Horde heritage. Special attention was paid to the ethnic composition and tribal type, language and cultural situation of the Tatars in it.

In conclusion, the specialists of the Institute, noting the established cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Poland, expressed their wishes for further continuation of scientific relations and holding a large number of scientific and practical conferences and training programs, convening a general meeting with the participation of qualified scientists on the Middle Ages and the Golden Horde era, as well as organizing the release of joint scientific publications.
