On 16 November 2023 at the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Ch. Valikhanov held the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference “E. Dilmukhamedov and national history”, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the prominent historian Eltok Dilimbetula Dilmukhamedov (1903-1990). Prominent public figures, representatives of research institutes and higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took part in the conference.
Eltok Dilimbetovich began his research activities in 1941 by studying the history of the national liberation movement in Kazakhstan. After moving from Tashkent to Alma-Ata in 1947, he worked at the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, where he developed problems of industrial history and the formation of the revolutionary movement of the working class of pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan.
In 1954, he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis for his research on the topic “The revolutionary movement of miners of Kazakhstan at the beginning of the 20th century.” A prominent scientist often made presentations on topical issues in the history of Kazakhstan at all-Union scientific and theoretical conferences in Alma-Ata, Moscow, Leningrad, Rostov-on-Don, etc. In 1973, in Moscow, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Mining industry and formation of the working class in Northern and Central Kazakhstan in the 19th century.”
A wide range of issues in the study of Kazakh history were discussed at the conference. Doctor of Historical Sciences Z. Sadvokasova, public figure M. Sembin, senior researcher R.Orazov and others gave reports on the national liberation struggle of the Kazakh people in the 19th-20th centuries, printed publications as a source of scientific information about the Kazakh uprisings, and the uprising under the leadership of Kenesary Kasymov
Leading researcher at the Karakalpak Humanitarian Research Institute of the Karakalpak Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences Sabit Nurzhanov, in his report “National liberation movements in Karakalpakstan at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries: history and significance,” noted the enormous contribution of E. Dilmukhamedov to the development of higher education in Karakalpakstan.
The special role of the scientist-historian E.D. Dilmukhamedov in studying the history of the Kazakhs, Uzbeks and Karakalpaks was also emphasized in his speech by B. Uzakov, a member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, editor of the International News Agency “Kazinform”.
Scientists also examined issues related to the history of the formation of the working class in the mining industry of Kazakhstan and the study of the activities of individual historical figures and political trends of this period. In particular, Doctor of Historical Sciences M.Zh. Abdirov presented the results of the study “History of the oil industry of Kazakhstan in the pre-revolutionary period.”
As noted in the speeches of the conference participants, E.D. Dilmukhamedov devoted his life to researching the history of our country and left behind invaluable scientific works on the study of national history.
