XI NUSUPBEKOV READINGS AT THE INSTITUTE OF HISTORY


On December 7, 2023, at the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh.Sh. Ualikhanov, as part of the XI Nusupbekov Readings, a Republican scientific and practical online conference was held on the topic “Kazakhstan in the Soviet period: history, personalities, current problems (1917-1991).”

The conference was attended by scientists, university teaching staff, young scientists, relatives and fellow countrymen of Academician A. Nusupbekov.

At the conference, presentations were made by: Director of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh.Sh. Ualikhanov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kabuldinov Ziyabek Ermukhanovich with the topic “The Life and Scientific Heritage of Academician Akai Nusupbekov”, Professor of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Koigeldiev Mambet Kulzhabaevich with the topic “On the Alash case”, organized by the OGPU authorities,” Professor of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abzhanov Khangeldy Makhmudovich with the topic “Academician Akai Nusupbekov and the history of the Kazakh worker class”, chief researcher of the department of history of Kazakhstan of the twentieth century of the Institute, candidate of historical sciences, professor Aldazhumanov Kaidar Seisenbaevich with the topic “The fate of academician Akai Nusupbekov and professor Bekezhan Suleimenov”, professor of the department of history of Kazakhstan at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, doctor of historical sciences Kundakbaeva Zhanat Bekovna with the topic “The contribution of Akai Nusupbekov to the study of Soviet statehood in Kazakhstan from the standpoint of modern theories.”

Ualikhanov, PhD Zakarya Rakhmetolla, doctoral student Doskaraeva Aizhan Askhatovna, 9th grade student at the gymnasium named after Akaya Nusupbekova Zere Talgat, daughter of academician Nusupbekova Maken.

The conference participants considered a wide range of issues related to socio-political and government activities, the scientific heritage of Academician A. Nusupbekov, his organizational role and contribution to the formation of national historical science.

Also at the conference, methodological principles for studying the history of Kazakhstan during the Soviet period, milestones and features of the development of academic historical science, the history of political repression and famine, science and culture in Soviet Kazakhstan were presented, the resistance movement in the 1960-1980s, the personalities of the Soviet period, history of the Second World War, etc.

During the conference, the following works were presented: a two-volume monograph “Alash case of the 1920-1930s. Documents and materials of the investigative case fabricated by the OGPU”, presentation of a collective monograph “Essays on the history of the traditional structure of Kazakhstan in the early Soviet years”, presentation of a collection of archival documents “State, public and scientific-pedagogical activities of Smagul Saduakasov.”

During the conference, young scientists of the Institute PhD N.N. Kurmanalina, A. Margulan, A.S. Tylahmetova, Candidate of Historical Sciences T.A. Ryskulov became winners of the A. Nusupbekov scholarship. The scholarships were awarded by relatives of A. Nusupbekov: Nusupbekov Suyundyk and Nusupbekova Nesibeli.

The conference was conducted in Kazakh and Russian languages. The conference participants expressed gratitude to the organizers for their work in preparing and holding the event.

The following resolution was adopted at the conference:

1. Continue the annual holding of republican scientific and practical “Nusupbek Readings” with the aim of broadly discussing theoretical, methodological and current problems of domestic historical science and improving the professional qualifications of young scientists.

2. Recommend to doctoral and master’s students a direction of research on socio-political and scientific-organizational activities, the scientific heritage of Academician Akai Nusupbekov as a topic.

3. Consider more broadly the issues of the development of humanities in Soviet Kazakhstan from the point of view of interdisciplinary and new methodological approaches and positions.

4. Science and culture in Soviet Kazakhstan in 1920-1991, expand the scope of studying current problems of the resistance movement in 1960-1980, individual personalities of the Soviet period, the history of the Second World War.
