The Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh.Sh. Ualikhanov will hold a methodological seminar on December 22, 2023 on the topic “New positions in assessing the place and role of representatives of the political elite in the history of Kazakhstan in the modern era.”

In the past of Kazakhstan, as in world history, the role of individuals, political rulers, biys and warriors was great. During the Soviet period, the role of the individual from a class point of view was denied as much as possible, and a tendency to depersonalize history was formed. After gaining independence, interest in the life and work of historical and political figures who served in the formation of Kazakh statehood increased, and demands arose to evaluate their place and role in society. The life and activities of khans, sultans, biys and batyrs in Kazakh society began to be studied. Recently, scientists and researchers have been conducting research in this direction.

The purpose of the methodological seminar is to provide information and exchange opinions among young scientists about theoretical problems and methodological trends that have developed today in domestic historical science.

The work of the methodological seminar includes the following areas:

1. Theoretical problems of studying the role of personality in the 18th-19th centuries in Kazakhstan;

2. New positions in assessing the role of representatives of the political elite in the modern history of Kazakhstan;

3. Methodological foundations for studying the place and role of heroes in traditional society.

Scientists and young researchers, doctoral students and master’s students are invited to the methodological seminar.

Methodological seminar starts on 2023 22th of December, at 10:00.
