In December 2023, the director of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh.Sh. Ualikhanov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ziyabek Kabyldinov was awarded a Letter of Gratitude from the Head of State for research conducted as part of the work of the State Commission for the complete rehabilitation of victims of political repression. In 2023, this commission prepared and published, with the participation of the Institute, “Materials of the State Commission for the Complete Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Persecution” in 33 volumes. This year, another 19 volumes of collections of archival documents on repression were released. To ensure the activities of the State Commission, a Project Office was created in the capital, supervising the activities of working groups consisting of scientists, researchers and employees of special government bodies. As part of the project, 57 scientists worked in 11 areas. Let us note that earlier the State Councilor of the Republic of Kazakhstan E.T. Karin sent special letters of thanks to the staff of the Institute who were part of this commission.
